Alicante, Plaza de la Santisima Faz March 5, Friday. Lunch in the plaza near our hotel. |
Plaza de la Santisima Faz Lunch the day we arived. Our hotel is the green building just down the alley. |
Plaza de la Santisima Faz Lunch the day we arrived. Brynna met us at the airport and helped us to understand the cab driver and passersby as we tried to find our hotel. |
|
Alley Leaving the plaza near our hotel. Lunch was behind the camera and to the left (Brynna's right). |
Alley Leaving the plaza where we had lunch. I wore this warm fuzzy a lot during our visit -- it was pretty chilly most days. I managed to leave it in the hotel the day we left Spain. |
Blue Stairs A typical alley in Alicante -- there are a few hills and some are steep. |

Narrow Street This is in the older part of town, near our hotel. Narrow streets are typical. The church on the right is being renovated. |

Graffiti Brynna promised to find out what this graffiti means -- we saw it on a number of buildings (often churches), but alas, she did not. This was beside the door of a building across the street from our hotel. |
Stone Lintel A building across the street from our hotel. |

Eposed Interior Wall Interesting construction -- apparently any old junk may be mortared together for walls between buildings. |
Idaly, Katya, Barbara, Brynna Idaly is Brynna's Spanish mom, and Katya is another exchange student (from Germany) staying with the same family. |

Deeper into the hidden Courtyard Sadly, I had changed the settings of the camera without noticing. (The little knob turns easily when pulling it out of its bag.) Ao a bunch of photos from the very top of the castle are way overexposed. Playing with iPhoto sliders helps, but but there is no detail to work with in the very bright areas. |
Ayuntamiento From the castle. Our lunch the first day was in the plaza with the palm trees at the lower right corner of the photo. |
